Editorial policy
Health information has to be trustworthy. This page explains exactly how we research, write, review, and update what you read here — and how we keep advertising separate from editorial.
Our core principle: screening, not diagnosis
Everything we publish treats neurodivergence as something to understand, not to diagnose online. Our screening tool and guides describe trait patterns and explain options — they never tell you that you 'have' a condition. Only a qualified clinician can diagnose ADHD, autism, or related conditions after a full evaluation.
We use trait-based, non-diagnostic language throughout, and we point readers toward professional evaluation whenever traits are pronounced or distressing.
How we research
Our content is based on published, peer-reviewed instruments and recognised diagnostic frameworks. The most frequently used sources include the DSM-5 (American Psychiatric Association), ICD-11 (World Health Organization), the Adult ADHD Self-Report Scale (ASRS-v1.1), the Autism Spectrum Quotient (AQ-10), the Ritvo Autism Asperger Diagnostic Scale–Revised (RAADS-R), and the Camouflaging Autistic Traits Questionnaire (CAT-Q).
Where we describe prevalence, co-occurrence, or other figures, we draw on the research literature and clinical guidance, and we avoid stating precise statistics that we cannot support.
How we write and review
Drafts are written and then reviewed by our editorial team for factual accuracy, clarity, and respectful, non-stigmatising language. Our team includes neurodivergent writers and editors, and we prioritise plain language over jargon.
We do not invent author credentials, testimonials, ratings, or endorsements. Content is attributed honestly to our editorial team rather than to fictitious experts.
Accuracy and corrections
If we get something wrong, we want to fix it. Every guide shows a last-updated date, and we revise content as research and clinical guidance evolve. If you spot an error or have a better source, email hello@mlighthouse.com and we'll review it promptly.
Advertising and independence
The screening tool is free. The site is supported by advertising. Advertising is kept strictly separate from editorial: advertisers do not commission, review, or influence our content or your results, and ad placements are clearly labelled.
Privacy
Assessment responses are processed locally in your browser and are never sent to a server, stored, or linked to your identity. We collect only anonymous, aggregated analytics. See our Privacy Policy for full detail.
